Iioncbiiike of 1301 Lake Drive, Taylor, Texas, a P-47 ThiKlerbollholt fishier pi lot, has been awarded a first and second oak leaf cluster to his Air Medal for "meritorious achieve ment" during twenty combat op erational sorties over enemy oc cupied continental Europe. The presentation was made by his commanding omcer, Colonel Frederic C. Gray of Abilene, Tex ns, at a recent ceremony held on their Eighth air force fighter base. Capt. Honebrake had pre viously won the Air Medal, and each cluster is equivalent to an other award of the medal. Capt. Bonebrake has now flown 43 combat missions to Europe with the famed 78th fighter group. He has destroyed a Focke wuu i;tu in tne air, and a uor nier 217, a Heinkel III and a Junkers 52 on the pround. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Bonebrake of Roseburg, Oregon, and his wife, Mrs. Betsy Ray Honebrake, lives at Taylor, Texas. NAVY COURT AtiNWr Prvfotl Ptisxt Social Security Tax Compromise Forecast WASHINGTON, Nov. 16 (AP) In the senate today Majority Leader Barkley disclosed that ef forts are underway to avoid a fight over a proposal by Senator Vandenberg (R-Mich) to freeze social security payroll taxes at present levels. The next step may be to offer a compromise on a new rate, and a revised formula lor creation of a reserve. Unless legislation is passed be tween now and Dec. 31, the pres ent payroll tax of one per cent each on employers and employes win go to two per cent each. The crop insurance bill Is slated for house consideration early next week. The senate hopes to pet under way promptly with the rivers and harbors bill and flood control legislation. Remove from fire; skim and stir by turns for 5 minutes. 7. Pour into jars. If you use pint or quart jars, seal hot and Invert jars on lids until Marmalade begins to set.
