at eight o'clock Thursday evening,
June 29, at the home of the
bride's parents.
An improvised altar was form
ed with two large baskets of mix
ed summer flowers, centered with
a huge basket of gladioli. The al
tar was flanked by candleabra
holding white candles. Preced
ing the ceremony, Mrs. H. V.
Crook, sister of the bride, played
softly on the piano and played the
Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin
for the bridal parly to advance
lo the altar. Dr Charles A. Ed
wards performed the impressive
ceremony In the presence of rela
tives and close friends of he
couple,
Preceding the ceremony, Miss
Dorothy Mabley ai'rl Miss Betty
Oreenley, dressed in pink sheer
formals and wearing corsages of
sweetpeas, descended the open
stairway, and lighted the' altar
candles.
The bride, who was given in
marriage by her father, was very
lovely in a floor-length satin
wedding gown of white, fashion
ed with a full train, sweetheart
neckline and long sleeves coming
to a point at the wrist. Tiny hut
tons fastened the bodice at the
back and the wasteline was out
lined with an edging of seed
pearls. She carried a bouquet of
stephanotis, pink baby I'ennchio
roses and centered with a large
orchid. A shower of satin ribbons
and stephanotis fell from the
bouquet. Her veil was finger tip
In length and was held in place
with a halo of stephanotis.
Miss Eleanor Updegrade, a for
mer room-mate of the bride at
boarding school, was maid of
honor, and was attrartive in a
floor-length gown of blue with a
lace bodice and full marquisette
skirt. Her flowers were pink
roses and stephanotis.

A reception followed and the
three-tiered decorated wedding
cake, topped by a miniature sailor
bridegroom and bride, was cut
by the bride and groom and serv
ed by Mrs. DeWitt, of Sutherlin.
The lace-covered table was center
ed with a very beautiful arrange
ment of carnations and roses and
tall tapers. Miss Beryl Scoles,
Miss Dorothy Mabley and Miss
Betty Greenley served and Mrs.
O. N. Wallace cut the ices. The
wedding photographs were taken
by Tail! Jenkins.
The brides wedding bouquet
was caught by Miss Scoles. For
traveling the bride chose an aqua
green two-piece suit with tan ac
cessories and her corsage was a
large orchid. Following a wed
ding trip to points north, the
bridegroom will return to Farra
gut, Idaho, to resume his training
in the Navy and the bride will
return to Roseburg.
The bride was graduated from
Laurelwood academy near Port
land and spent a year attending
Walla Walla college. The bride
groom attended the Roseburg
schools and was graduated from
Riverside Military academy in
Georgia. Ho recently enlisted in
the Navy. The bride's father is a
retired contractor and is well-
known all over the state. The
bridegroom's father formerly op
erated the Ford garage in Rose
burg, until purchasing the large
ranch near Umpqua a few years
ago, and which he still operates.
