U. S. National Bank's
Deposits Upped Heavily
In the year-end financial state
ment submitted to the comptrol
ler of currency as per official call
of December 31, the United States
National bank, which has one of
its important branches in this
city, showed deposits of $390,055,
770.62, compared with deposits at
the close of last year of $294,70;!,-
266.64, a gain of $95,353,503.98.
A review of deposits over the
past ten-year period made by Mr.
J. H. Booth, head of the local
branch of the bank, shows figures
as of December 30, 1933, of
$75,210,343.29 against latest re
ported deposits of $390,055,770.62,
or a gain in the decade of
$314,845,427.33.

dians departed today for Medford
where they are to play two basket
ball games, tonight and Saturday,
to open the first round of play in
the southern Oregon league.
Coach Hod Turner reports the
team to be In good condition, al
though lacking in experience.
Practice sessions were maintained
during the holiday period.
The Indians will play a home
game against North Bend Janu
ary 15, and the following week
will meet Ashland on the local
floor in games to be played Janu
ary 21 and 22.

(AP) The district OPA prepar
ed to prosecute 1,350 service sta
tion operators In Oregon and
southwestern Washington for
gasoline rationing violations.
Black market gasoline opera
tion are extensive In the district;
OPA agents have seized invalid
coupons worth 244,723 gallons,
and more operators probably will
be cited, said Director Richard G.
Montgomery.
