Scouts of America, who worked
more than a thousand hours in
food production last summer, ac
cording to a report received at
the council office In Eugene, K.

nounces. More than twice the number
of hours set as a goal for work
in food production last summer
is the record made by Boy Scouts
of the Wallamet council. Accord
ing to the final figures, over
275,000 hours of boy labor in
food production and conserva
tion helped the war effort In the
six counties Lane, Benton,
Douglas, Lincoln, Coos and Cur
ry comprising the Wallamet
council.
A goal of 110,600 hours was
set last spring for the council
after the Boy Scouts of Ameri
ca pledged 100 million hours of
work in the nation. This goal
meant an average of about 100
hours of work for each Boy
Scout.

YONCALLA, Oct. 19-The Yon
calla Girl Scouts sold over $350
worth of war bonds during the
month of September. The scouts,
under the leadership of Mrs. Wal
ter Lunney and Mrs. FredMerk,
hold a rummage sale twice a
week, have a food sale and are
earning money in every way they
can to help their troop in their
work.
Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Davis, Mrs.
Rosa Thompson and son, Gary,
and Miss Green of Albany and
Mr. and Mrs. Barton of Corvallis
sepnt Sunday visiting at the Sam
Walkinshaw home.

the Applegate grocery store,

are enjoying some much-needed
rest.

spent last week visiting their
granddaughter near Los Angeles.

Wash., is visiting her brother and
