Vic tor has recently been discharged from the army on account of age, and has returned to his former job as government trapper in the predatory animal control work, of Marion county. During his ab sence Mrs. Howard was employ ed at Salem In the filing department of bus and truck transportation, in case of evacua tion, but Is at home now. ' William Arnold has been quite sick the past few days. His son, Monroe Arnold, has been releas ed from army duty in California, where he was graduated from Aero Tech, and will go into the logging1 woods soon- He is an ex pert bull dozer driver. - A large crowd attended the Easter picnic sponsored by Mrs. Bell Clark at the schoolhouse Sunday. Games and visiting, ' a short program and a most excel lent picnic dinner filled the day. School will close Friday and Mrs. Clark has been retained as teach er, making her fourth year. Roy Carnall spent last week at the home of his daughter, Mrs. June Hook, and family, on the North Umpqua. The Hooks will leave soon for Big Camas for Dick's work with the National forest service and later go on to Diamond lake, when weather conditions permit. Mr. Hook Will serve his third year as guard at the lake.
