There are numerous theories regarding the origin of the day,
one being that it is derived from the I luli feast of the Hindus,
when gullible members ef the tribe were sent on foolish errands. ;
Others place the origin in the days of the Romans while still j
other authorities trace the beginning to the annual feasts of the j
court fouls, clowns and jeiters.
But probably the day just
