Thursday afternoon the May
Fete and a Saga of American
History were presented at the
school auditorium. "The Wedding
of the Painted Doll," crowning
the May queen Indian dance and
song were given by the Primary
children.
The Intermediate grades took
part In "The Making of the First
Flag" and the "Minuet." The
upiier giades representing old
fashioned folk sang and danced
the Virglna Keel and square
dance;followed by the winding of

Post Obligates Man in
Navy; Father is Proxy
Charles Dusseau, now In active
service with the United States
navy, has become a full-fledged
member of the Patrick W. Kelley
post of the Veterans of Foreign
Wars. Although he was not pres
ent to accept the obligation of
membership, his father, Paul Dus
seau, a veteran of the first World
war and an active member of the
V. F. W. post acted as proxy for
his son when the memljership ob
ligation was conferred here Sun
day by John Snellstrom of Eu
gene, past department command
er, at a Ninth district conference
held at Carl's Tavern. Other lo
cal veterans to assume the obliga
tion were Marion A. Deakins and
Fred Slempinski.
The meeting was called by
Commander Vincent Malone of
the local post and was conducted
by Major H. G. White of Eugene,
district commander. Out of vown
visitors were Major White, Past
Department Commander Snell
strom and Walter Larwood of
Eugene; Ace Gregg, commander
of Cottage Grove post, and Earl
Culver, Walter Lunn and Clar
ence Mclntire, Florence.
Price Fixing Rules To
Be Told at Meeting Here
Roseburg merchants and man
agers of business firms will have
an opportunity Friday evening to
hear a discussion of the detailed
rules and regulations pertaining
to price fixing order on retail
merchandising. The meeting,
sponsored by the Roseburg cham
ber of commerce, will be held at
7:30 at the circuit court room in
the courthouse at Roseburg. Miss
Margaret White, who recently at
tended a school of Instruction at
Portland, will be the principal
speaker. Miss White, who is the
administrator for the county wel
fare commission, also heads the
local Information department for
the OPA.
The chamber of commerce Is
urging that every merchant and
retail manager be present at to
night's meeting, so that there
will be a thorough understanding
of the regulations, Harry Plnni
ger, chamber of commerce secre
tary, states.
