The most crucial game of the
first half of the city softball
league schedule will be played to
night between Boucock's Butch-!
t-rs and Dunham's Transfermen.l
The winner of this game, which
will he the second of tonight's
twin bill, will be the flrsl-hair
champion, unless it Is decided to
play off a number of postponed j
games, which resulted from pro-
longed rains during the earlier
part of the season.
Some of the managers and play
ers have advocated cancellation
of the postponed games and
starting immediately upon the
second half of the league sched
ule, which would put the winner
of tonight's major contest In a
position to meet the second half
winner in the finals for the city
championship.
The Butchers have played
more games than the other teams
of the league and go Into tonight's
contest witli a record of 10 w ins
and three losses. The Transfer-
men, Willi a total of 11 games to
date, have nine wins and two
losses. Boucock's In second place,
could change places with Dun-!
ham's by a victory tonight, j

feated Corvallls here 15 to 9 In
an interesting game al Finlay
field Sunday. Trailing by a G to 9
score going into the seventh In
ning, the Roseburg girls had
runners on second , and third
with two down when Lois Kurtz
came to the plate and rapped out
a home run to tie the score, be
fore the Inning ended, every
team member had made lilts and
runs.
The Corvallls girls were late in
reaching Roseburg and were jit
tery throughout the game be
cause of an accidpnt five miles
out of' Corvallls,. where one of
their cars was wrecked by a tire
blow-out. Although no one was
Injured, they had to return to
Corvallls to obtain another car.
The game was filled with
sparkling plays, with the Rose
burg girls turning in a fourth-inning
double 'play to cut off a po
tential run.; Marjorie Donley,
Roseburg pitcher, made a beauti
ful catch of a foul ball off the
third base line. Good fielding by
Vivien Dominico, left field and
heavy hitting by Kurtz, second
base, who poled out two home
runs, provided other features of
the game on the part' of the
Roseburg team. Other players in
cluded Eunice Carmlchael, catch
er! Eleanor ties, first base; Vel
ma 1 Crocker, third base; Lila
