Goff, Mrs. Enos Handy and Mrs. Kencnth Conn ' entertained at a very charming double shower party Sunday ev ening at the Melrose grange hall or Mr. and Mrs. Robert Knudsen and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Short, Jr., both couples of Eugene. Many lovely gilts were presented to the two couples. The hall was beautifully deco rated with orange blossoms and ocean spray, arranged with sweet peas. Refreshments were served from a large table covered by a handmade lace cloth and centered by tall white tapers and a bowl of orange blossoms. A double wedding cake was cut and served by the two brides . Assisting with ihe pouring were Mrs. Jerry Morn and Mrs. Walter Kruse. Miss Ruth and Miss Ruby Mat thews presented the gifts to the two guest of honor couples. EXECUTIVE AND REGULAR MISSIONARY MEETING TO BE HELD ON THURSDAY The June executive meeting of 1 lie Missionary society of the First Presbyterian church will be held Thursday at two o'clock at Hie home of Mrs. C. MELROSE H. E. C. TO MEET WEDNESDAY The Melrose Home Economics club will meet Wednesday, June 11, at two o'clock at the home of Flora Cox with Margaret Reece as program chairman. The last meeting of the club was held at the homo of Mrs. James Conn. Mrs. Amy Seely had charge of an interesting quiz game and roll-call was answered by members giving the name of their favorite book. Mixed spring flowers were attractively arrang ed about the rooms. A lovely luncheon was enjoyed by Mrs. Royce Busenbark, Mrs. Mabel Busenbark, Anita Stark, Mrs. Grace Fenn, Mrs. H. P. POTTAWATOMIE GROUP HAS MEETING MONDAY The Pottawatomie Camp Fire group met at the Camp Fire rooms Monday to make plans for the annual summer camp to be held .Tulv filh and 2nih. A re port was given on canned foods and the meeting closed with the Camp Fire song. FLORENA HANDY AND ROBERT KNUDSEN MARRY IN EUGENE THURSDAY At a simple service solemnized Thursday evening at seven o' clock in the First Congregational church in Eugene, Miss Florena Handy, daughter of George Han dy, of Melrose, became the bride of Robert Knudsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Overgard, of Eugene. About sixty relatives and friends attended the wedding, which was performed by Dr. Williston Wirt. Following the service a reception was held at the Overgard home. Relatives and friends attending the wedding from Melrose and Roseburg were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Goff, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Conn, Mr. and Mrs. Enos Handy, N. L. Conn, Mrs. Emma P. Woods, Miss Ruth and Miss Ruby Matthews and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth C6nn and son, Duane. The bride is well known here. having made her home with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Conn, while she attend ed Roseburg high school, where she was graduated. The couple will make their home at Route 1, Eugene. MRS. CLIFFORD SMITH ELECTED PRESIDENT OP JUNIOR WOMAN'S CLUB Mrs. Clifford E. Smith was elected president of the Roseburg Junior Woman's club at a meet ing held Monday evening at the clubhouse and presided over by the retiring president, Mrs. Paul Smith. Other new officers in clude: Miss Dorothy Germond, first vice-president; Mrs. J. E. Henbest, second vice-president; Mrs. Perry Thiele, secretary; Miss Patricia Turner, treasurer; Mrs. H. Schwartzkopf, sgt-at-arms, and Miss Dorothy Crum melt, director for two years. Mrs. Smith gave a report on her attendance at Red ' Cross classes and urged members to as sist as much as possible with the Red Cross sewing. She also re ported that the American Home group picnic date would be an nounced later. Mrs. J. E. Hen best presented the report of the fine arts department. Installation of officers will be held at the 11th meeting of the club year, June 1G, at the club house. Mrs. I. M. WILL MEET ON THURSDAY The Woman's Society of Christ ian Service will hold its June luncheon at one o'clock Thui-s-day at the Methodist church. This meeting will be preceded at 11:30 o'clock by the monthly executive session. The luncheon Is in charge of Mis. Ned Dixon, chairman. Mrs. B. A. Mellis will conduct the de votions and Mrs. C. A.
