Several lovely picnics and wiener roasts have been enjoyed during the last two weeks honoring Mrs. K J. Rayho and daughter, Jean Diane, und Mrs. William Hill, who have been guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis McCall at Umpqua. Mrs. Rayho, who has been spending the last eight months in Washington and Oregon, left Sunday for her home in San Pedro, Calif. Mrs. Hill, who is a niece of Mrs. Rayho and Mrs. McCall, left for her home in Wheeler, Ore., Friday. Mr. Ray ho is a chief petty officer on the V. S. S. Nevada. Last Wednesday, the WSCS gave a farewell party, honoring two of the teachers of the local schools, who are going away, and will not return next year. The honor guests were Miss Lydia Reichen, and Miss Clara E. Moore. The party was at Mrs. N. B. Ash craft's, and there was a miscel laneous shower for Miss Reich- en, who is to be married in the near future, and a handkerchief shower for Miss Moore. Deli cious refreshments were served. ANNUAL MOTHERS TEA IS HELD ON FRIDAY DRAIN, May 2G. The annual home economics mothers' tea was held Friday in the high school auditorium. Living room furni ture, davenports, rugs and tables tastefully arranged with baskets of peonies and roses made a charming setting for the style show. The girls modeled gar ments made by them this year in school. On the program were numbers by the girls quartette, Uene Dement, Delilah Honnold, Martha Cool, and Lita Hucbner; a baritone horn solo by Paul Ris ing and piano numbers by Doris Craig. Mrs. Madaline Cool, Mrs. Elsie Hucbner, Mrs. Dorothy Ran dall and Miss Melva Bull presided at the serving tables. Corsages were given the mothers present. They were accompanied by Mrs. Gilmour's daughter, Miss Virginia, student at University of Oregon. Shoemakers Return Dr. and Mrs. B. R. Shoemaker have re turned to their home on Blakeley street from a three weeks' trip to the east coast. They made the trip east by train and purchased a new Oldsmobile in Lansing, Mich. They visited Dr. Shoemak er's relatives in his old home town of Napoleon, Ohio, and also relatives of Mrs. Shoemaker in her former home town of Athens, Ohio. From there they went to Washington, D. C, to enjoy two days visiting Dr. Shoemaker's brother, Carl Shoemaker. From the national capital, they went down the east coast to Florida, Georgia and Alabama and stop ped over in New Orleans, before proceeding to the Carlsbad cav erns and then up to the Grand canyon, Bryce canyon and Zion National park. En route home yesterday, they slopped over in Medford for a short visit with their daughter, Miss Betty Shoe maker, society editor of the Med ford Mail-Tribune. From Lansing, Mich., they drove 5,080 miles and enjoyed taking numerous motion pictures as well as colored "stills" during the trip. Russell and daughter, Betty, have returned from a short vacation trip, during which Mr. Russell attended the sessions of the grand lodge-of Oregon I. O. O. F., while Mrs. Russell and Betty visited with their sons and brothers, Leland and Lowell Rus sell, at Boise, Idaho. They were accompanied on the return trip by Mrs. J. B. Bailey and Mrs. O. L. Johnson, who had been attend ing the sessions of the Rebekah Assembly of Oregon, at Baker. Mrs. Church Back Mrs. H. C. Church has returned here to re sume her visit at the J. R. Whar ton home, following a stay in Portland since last Wednesday, where she enjoyed a visit with her mother, Mrs. C. Davis, of San Francisco, who met her there for the week-end. Following the sen ior high graduation exercises, Mrs. Church will return to Fort Worden, Wash., to join Captain Church and will be accompanied there by her daughter, Miss Ma rian, who will spend the summer at the fort.
