Everything else having failed, a
former grocery boy has been
drafted 10 oppose heavyweight
champion, Joe Louis, tonight.
Tony Musto, a Chicago Italian.
Is championship target No. 16 in
the parade of fistic talent that
has included fat men skinny men,
clowns and even an othodox pu
gilist or two In Louis' slop-a-month
tour of the country.
Musto, who graduated from do
livery boy to steel puddler before
turning fighter, . will ho one of
the few persons among the 20,000
expected to lam the arenn who
thinks he will subdue Louis.
Few nets are available that the
scrap will go beyond five rounds
and that curfew is forecast with
Musto flat on his back.
The only thing that distin
guishes this stop on (lie Louis j
tour is that the champion en-j
counters a foe who fights natur- j
ally from a crouch. !
Kxcept for Tony Galcnlo and i
Al McCoy, who adopteil the unj
derslung style for a night, Louis j
has tangled only with upright
young men. Arturo Godoy, the!
South American dancer, and rug-j
pert Red Burman unsuccessfully:
offered techniques approximating
that of Musto. :
And Musto has had biith of!
these on the floor In his 3!) pro-1

Another disadvantage which j
isn't expected to disturb Louis In I
the least is the challenger's short j
stature. Standing upright Musto.

is six inches less than Louis.

blow to their hopes of a success
ful beginning of their competi

that Jim Finlay, ace hurlcr and

few weks of the basketball sea-

squad, in an effort to put forth a

him on the sidelines. This news,
though distressing, Is not discour

are putting forth their best ef
