sonic lodges in Oregon and
throughout the ndjolnlng territory
to Join the third annual conclave
at Malheur cave ami witness the
conferring of the Master Mason
degree, Saturday, September 7, un
der a special dispensation granted
by tlio grand master of Oregon.
Plans are being made for repre
sentatives in every Masonic lodge
in the state to be present. Lodge
will convene at four o'clock In the
afternoon, followed by refresh-'
ments and the degree at 7:30.

bers of his offlclul family will be
present.
A burbecufi buckaroo supper will
be served all guests at the entrance
of the cave at six-thirty o'clock.
Malheur cave Is located 54 miles
southeast of Bums and Is reached
by way of the Crane-Princeton
market road. The cave is a hall'
mile long with a quarter mile hike
in the roar. The chamber used Is
several hundred Tect back from the
entrance, CO feet wide under an
arched celling of lava rock. This
novel event offers a distinctive anil
impressive experience for Masons.
There Is an Interesting Pluto In
dian legend that has Malheur cave
as the sanctuary of a remnant of
the tribe, who, being forewarned
by the wily coyote, took refuge
there and were saved from extinc
tion by a hostile band of attackers.
