DR. CHARLES A. EDWARDS
"Far more significant Is the
fact that not merely in a super
ficial fashion, but In the very
most profound fashion, Jesus has
Influenced the thought and the
life of mankind. He never curv
ed a statue, nor painted a
canvas, yet he has Ins pi rod the
produclioii of immortal art. He
never wrote a sheet of music,
nor even so much as played up
on a musical Instrument, yet He
has inspired the composition of
music that has uplifted the soul
of the race. lie never made any
diiect attack upon human slav
ery, yet slavery has been ban
ished by His Spirit. So fur as
we know He never made any
dlreet attack upon war, yet His
Spirit Is making war Increasing
ly Intolerable. 0 He never uttered
a single word about the emanci
pation of women, but voinen the
world around are being emanci
pated by his chivalry. But He
did say. "Let the little children
come unto nie. forbid them not.
To such belongeth the kingdom
of heaven." and in His firm but
gentle strength generation after
generation of little children have
found protection." Amen.
