PARIS. The mid-season collections are full of surprises
fewer billowing, romantic gowns a return, (though only
hinted at the moment) to the Gibson Girl silhouette the con
tinuation of the second Empire influence all sorts of new and
glittering embroideries and the dominant theme throughout
nil these is an increasingly free and casual silhouette, with
neat, trim hips and swinging hems.

Poris couturiers hove shown larger midseason collections than
