POETS CORNER
MY RED ROSE
By O. M. LEEPER
I miss the red rose
On Its slender stem,
Like Tolks wo know
And long for them.
It had been there
And 1 loved it.
Easy to remember
Ami hard to forget.
The rose was there
Ami now it's gone,
Uke folks we knew
And they went on.
Just tho slender stem
Where oneo the rose
Has come and gone
One never knows.
From out the earth
It came to life.
And helped lot
In each day's strife.
Bnt now it's gono
From off the stem,
Like leaves they fall
We can't keep them.
Bnt oh, the rose,
Think not It's Rone,
For it Rave a thought
That lingers on.
Ah yes, the rose,
lis blossom dead.
Han left a thought
With tne Instead.
The rose must fado j
Bnt does not die, 1
It's In my heart j
Much closer by,
el Mrs, JMnor Appleffftte, Mrs. Lee
It's my rose still, '
