declared that the transaction tax

tem. Rev. B. Ross Evans, evangelist,

Townsend plan In improvement of
social and economic conditions.
Senator C. W. Clark discussed
the proposed canalization of the
Umpqua river and urged support
and cooperation of the residents
of Douglas county.
The program was conducted by
George Anderson, president, and
included the invocation by Rev.
Milford Knight, and the song

We are faced on every hand by
debt problems In private and na

cult the problems of the banker.
The easy payment plan Is the easy
way. It Is time bankers began dis
couraging debt for everything but

Stubbed in the back by an un
known assailant,. Robert Mar
quardt, 91, enrolled at the Triangle
lake CCC camp, was brought to a
hospital Saturday night.
The stabbing allegedly occurred
during a fight at a dance at I he
camp Saturday. Mnrquardt appar
ently was attacked by someone
who came up behind hiui und slip
ped away before his identity was
learned. The : body sustained a
wound twelve Inches long.
