MEETING 18 HELD
MELROSE, May 13. The last
meeting of the home extension
unit, sponsored by the Home hcon-
omics club wa held Thursday at
the Melroae grange ball with Miss
Jessie Palmlter of Corvallls In
charge.
From U to 12:30 visiting was
enjoyed and tether tennis was
played. . Tho lovely union run
was served at one long table at
noon. .
The afternoon was spent in
demonstrating and talks by Mlsn
Palmlter on tho study of color
and the principles of lines and the
kind of clothing to be worn hy cm-
ferent Individuals. She showed
drawings of ancient styles as com
pared to the present styles.
Miss Palmlter ulso announced
that the summer camp for wo
men would be held again. In Coos
county. .
The enmp will he opened Au
gust 28 and will continue for four
days and will be open to all la
dies from Coos and Douglas coun
ties who care to attend. Classes
in leather tooling, Swedish em
broidery and artcraft will bo held
each day, as well as lessons In
swimming and other recreations
and hikes will he enjoyed and on
Sunday. August 31, will be family
day when the families and hus
bands of nil ladies attending are
invited and all enjoy dinner to
gelher.

. 1 large onion
1 lb. cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Doll spaghetti until tender, drain
and allow cold water to run
through. Let drnin. Fry meat and
onions In oil. Mix nil other Ingred
ients except cheese. Place (n bak
ing dish, grate cheese over top and
bake tlowlv from 1 to 1' hours.
This dish Improves each time It is
hened.
BAKED LIVER IN CASSEROLE
MRS. GLENN CALLEN, Roseburg.
1 lb. liver: 2 carrots;- 1 onion?
2 potatoes; 1 can peas; 6 T fat; 2
c milk: pepper and salt to taste;
Clour. Cut potatoes and carrots In
cubes. Cook till tender. Wlpo liver,
flour and brown In the fnt, remove.
Cook onions in the fnt till brown.
Remove them and mako gravy with
3 T flour and the milk, salt and
pepper. Arrange a layer of veget
ables in a casserole, then liver,
repeat. Pour gravy over this and
bake (325) for 1 hr.
Variation Bubble and Squeak:
Use 1 lb. round steak cut In 1 In.
cubes. Brown In faL Put layer of
meat In greased casserole. Then
layer of vegetables (2 c cube po
tatoes; 2 c sliced onions). Salt
and pepper each layer , Repeat.
Pour over at 1 c mock turtle soup
and enough water to cover (meas
uring water). Cover. Cook t 350
for 2 tare. For every cup of liquid
stir In 1 T flour and cook 16 mln.
