BANQUET ENJOYED
AT CARL'S TAVERN
SUTIIKRLIN. April 21. On. Fri
luy evening ut six o'clock, about
tony-four members of the Sulhor
lln high school and their guests
met ut Curl's Tavern In Ito-schur
for their annual banquet given by
the juniors complimenting the
senior eluss. The table wus taste
fully decorated with the class col
ors of orchid und silver, the design
being curried out in the swan mo
tif. A three-course turkey dinner
was served, which was inter
spersed wlih an arranged program.
James Smith, a junior was toast-
musier and a toust to tho seniors
was given by Hob VnuKmireu. The
espouse was given by Margaret
Slgisinund. The class history was
read by Marlon Sigismund und the
class will by Fayo Muuson. Mar
tha H ult gave the class prophecy
and Marvin Fisher, principal, gave
short address entitled. "That
Immeasurable Something." After
tho banquet, the party adjourned
to the Indian theutre where they
enjoyed the show.

SUCCESSFUL AFFAIR
DRAIN, April 21. Tho music
festival of the north Douglas coun
ty schools, held ut the Drain
grade school auditorium Friday,
April 16. was a great success.
County Superintendent Mrs. Stella
Quine and Daniel Poling, director
of music festivals were In attend
ance. Mrs. Flora Hedrlck. music
teacher of the grade school here
wus in charge of the program. In
addition to chorus numbers the
following schools guve special
numbers, the teachers of .each
school directing and accompanying
the numbers: Curtin, Cold Springs.
Yoncalla, Oakland, Sunny dale.
Pleasant Valley and Glide. I he
Drain grade school band, composed
of nineteen members plnyed sev
eral selections and the primary
gi-ades put on a very enjoyable
number. The Girls' Glee club of
the high school, directed by Dnvid
LontUin. gave two numbers. The
Glide school orchestra played sev
eral nu'iers which were appre
ciated by the large audience as
were all other specials, reflecting
much credit upon the teachers who
trained and directed the schools
taking part.
