gon's fields and forests, streams

Governor Charles Martin today.
The governor, addressing the
wild life conference on tbe Oregon
State college campus, urged a co
operative program to develop and
conserve the states wild life re
sources. .
"There are states where water
must be conserved to restore
marshes and lakes before there Is
a chance to again have waterfowl
and fish; forests must be grown
before forest loving birds and ani
mals can live again, and vegetative
covering of some kind must bq re
stored In the "dUHt bowl" area be
fore R is fit for habitation by man
or beast, tbe governor said.
"We have no time 10 lose, lor
the same forces which dissipated
the game and fish in our older cen
ters are at work here. If we take
Intelligent action ut once, we will
not need to follow a harsh, repres
sive nolicy. but a" broad develop
ment policy which will permit our
use and enjoyment of our recrea
tional and commercial wild life fa
cilities while they are being hus
banded for oncoming generaUonB."

Both Tidwell and Mrs. Iarue
were held In jail, Tidwell on
charges uf mislreutlng a child,
Mrs. Larue ou a morals count.
The boy's father signed both com
plaints.
The boy allegedly said he wus
being punished for going down
town when I wasut supposed to.
Juvenile officers Investigating the
ease produced a pair of toy band
cuffs which, it Is charged, were
used to (fasten Wallace Larue's
wrists belore he was asserted ly
lifted with the rope.
Trial of the case will be held
iu justice court tomorrow.
