From August, 1934, to August,
1936, Hopkins said, there was a re
duction of 16 per cent In the num
ber of persons employed by the
works program or receiving slate
or local relief.
The report listed 3.S33.O0O fami
lies and single persona on local or
federal relief in Auguat, 1936, as
compared with a total of 4,250,000
in tho same month of 1935. It add
ed the 417,000 reduction took place
despite the addition of 100,000
drought emergency cases.
