IS BEAUTIFUL AFFAIR
OF SUNDAY MORNING
Miss Dorothy Shoudy, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Hourell, of
Riverside, and James Judd Jr., son
of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Judd, of this'
city, were married at a beautiful
ceremony at St. George's Episcopal
church at eight o'clock yesterday
morning, May 31, in the presence
of fifty friends and relatives. Rev.
Perry Smith performed the cere
mony, which took place iierore a
flower banked and candleligllted
altar. Baskets of pink roses nnd
white nnd orchid BWeet rocket were
used as decorations.
Miss Eldress Judd, sister of the
bridegroom, played the organ and
also accompanied Mrs. C. A. Brand
who very charmingly sang, "At
Dawning." Tile bridal party enter
ed the church to the strains of the
wedding inarch. The bride, beau
tiful in a white" floor length chif
fon dress, fastened at the neck by
a gold clasp, carried a sheaf of
deep pink rosebuds and nouvurdia.
Her turban was of ' while crepe
and her slippers were gold. Her
only attendant was her sister. Miss
Mildred Shoudy, who was lovely in
pastel blue net and carried a sheaf
of pink roses and wore a largo
picture hat. Gordon Applewhito
was best man to the bridegroom
nnd Dick Crenshaw acted as usher.
The bride was given In marriage
by Mr. Bourel!.
The bride's mother was attrac
tive In a tailored suit of gray with
matching straw hat. Her gloves
and purse were of rose color. Mrs.
Judd, mother of the bridegroom,
wore a lovely white sharkskin en
semble suit nnd white straw hat.
The wedding breakfast was serv
ed at nine o'clock at the Umpqua
hotel to Mr. nnd Mrs. James Judd
Jr.. Mr. nnd Mrs. W. A. Bnurell

Preceding the breakfast, Keith
Phillips played "I Love You Truly"
as a piano solo.
The table was beautifully decor
ated with crystal bowls of pink
and white flowers arranged with
ferns. Following the breakfast
the bride and bridegroom left on
their wedding trip to he spent In
northern Oregon, Washington and
Victoria and Vancouver, B. C. The
bride's bouquet was caught by
Miss Hildred McLaughlin. Mrs.
Judd wore as her going-away cos
tume a frock of green lace with a
brown lace Jacket and matching
brown accessories. A corsage of
gardenias completed the outfit. Up
on their return to Roseburg after
June 12, they will be at home to
their friends at 516 Fowler street.
The bride was graduated in Kla
math county In 1932 and upon com
ing to Roseburg took post gradu
ate work In the local high school
in 1933. She is now employed In
the offices of Dr. J. B. Foley and
Dr. C. G. Van Valzah nnd will con
tinue her work after her return to
Roseburg the middle of June. Mr.
Judd was graduated from Roseburg
senior high in 1931 and attended
Oregon State college and Univers,
ity of Oregon. He is a member of
Delta Tnu Delta, fraternity. He is
associated with his father in the
Judd Furniture store in this city.

Miss Vesta Beckley, daughter of
Mrs. Pltzer Woodson Beckley of
Gladstone, Ore., became the bride
of Mr. Lee K. Clyde, son of Mrs.
Reilla Clyde of Seattle, Saturday,
May 16.
The bride was attended by her
sister, Miss Lois Beckley of ukl
ma, Wash. Puul Clyde of Seattle,
brother of the bridegroom, acted
as best man.
After a reception, the couple left
via Oregon beaches for California.
Miss- lleckley is a gruduate of
Oregon Mule college, a member
if Chi Omega sorority, and since
graduation has been with the Ore
gon Slate college library staff.

ger of the Purine Telephone &
Telegraph Co. In Portland. They

Mrs. Civile was graduated from
Roseburg high school In 1925, later
going to Oregon State. She Is a sis
ter of Lynn Beckley of this city.
