SUTHERLIN CHEESE
FACTORY TO OPEN
8UTHKKMX, April 6 If every
thing progresses as planned, the
Suthet lin cheese plant will be
manufacturing the well known
brand of Kraft cheese within the
next ten days.
A carload of new and modern
equipment for the manufacture of
Kraft cheese arrived here last 1-rt-
day and Is now being assembled
in the manufacturing department
which was recently enlarged In or
der to make room for the new
equipment. All the plaster has
been removed from the walls or
the man jfacturing department and
Ihe room celled and painted.
Workmen are now engaged in
putting in Ihe hot and cold water
pipes and expect to have every
thing connected up and ready to
within a few riayH. 'Ihe old
milk vats. Installed by fi. H. Car
lyle for the manufacture of "Ed a-
made" cheese, have been discarded
and three new vats have been in
stalled. Two of the new vats are
of tioo gallons capacity each and
are lined with 2o-gungc tin steel,
while Ihe third vat is of 1.000 gal
Ions capacity and is lined with 20
guage tin copper.
I he plant has arranged to start
with 1500 gallons of milk daily,
which will produce approximately
l.ouO pounds or cheese each day.
fne cheese to be manufactured will
weigh about 25 pounds each and
will be shipped to Ihe Kraft com
pany al San Francisco by motor
truck ut the end of each week.
