Aliens on Relief,
IT JH usual and expected for 10-
publicans, candidates and party
warriors, to frown on all new deal
policies. Brick throwing ut every
thing done by the administration

Colonel Theodore Iloosovelt, son
of the immortal 'T. It.," recently
attacked new deal relief polk leu.
One suggestion made by the Colo
nel strike a responsive chord. Ho
said: "All aliens on roltof bIiouM
be shipped hack to the nation of
which they are' citizens."
We would not think of this here
In Douglas county where there are
few ullons hut In the largo con tors
of population the number of alien
and particularly the number or
aliens on relief Is considerable.
Colonel Roosevelt utatod: "Hlght
here In the United States we are
carrying hundreds of thousands of
aliens on relief rolls, and the
American working man, whethor
he bo plumber, taxi driver, lawyer
or doctor, U paying tbo bill. All
ullons on relief should bo whipped
back to the nation of which they
are citrons. Wo aro not a poor
house for tho rest of the world."
; Too true. It Is well known that
an Amorlcan citizen cannot go to
a foreign country In Europe and
find employment. Ho certainly
would not be carried upon any ro
lief roll. In fact, other countries
aro doing what California Is at
tempting to doand Ihut Is limit

to people of mouns. The penniless
are kept out or If thero, aro do
ported. Ono Kuropean country oven

When will we cease bolng so ull-

zens of other countries when
those countries will nut do tho
same for our cltlious?

The cops used to go down
to the depot to meet the trains
with flit-guns. If a Kelly or
Yellow Ball champion got off
the train the cops sprayed him
with roach tonic.
Then they searched him for
bowle knives, wrong dice and an
engine. When we speak nbout an
engine we don't mean the kind tliut

Like the boy who inherited
his father's factory, he got the
