not be a dinner mooting, .Mr. lirit
JUm says.
A. (J. Marsters has donated the
use of the room formerly occupied
by the cafeteria to the associa
tion. This will be used as a depot
for foodstuffs contributed. It is
planned to have different organi
zations of the city take chaiKe
of the room for one week eacu.
That will mean that some one is
on duty throiiKhout the entire day
every day except Sunday. Supplies
will not be handed out by them
without the (). K. of the executive
committee and then only alter in
'vestiKUtion. It is the aim of this organization
to take care of the needy in anil
around UosebuiK. That will include
all the outlying districts which are
not claimed by the surrounding
towns as theirs to take care of.
Donations Wanted
Money, canned fruit, fresh fruit,
vegetables, cured meats, service
able clothing aud even wood arc
all very acceptable and can and
will be used to good advantage.
All money should be slven to or
sent to Ivan Pickens at the U nip
qua Valley bank. Mr. Pickens is
treasurer of the organization aud
will see to it that all money re
ceived and spent will be strictly
accounted for. Other supplies can
be contributed through Mrs. II. C.
Church, secretary, who Is located
next door to the Marsters store
room. If unable to get in touch
with Mrs. Church, any of the other
members will be glad to see thai
it is received for distribution.
In cases where people are in
need of some Hems and have a sur
plus of some of the other- things,
trading can be arranged for.
Rotarians Give
The Rotary club took up a col
lection at their meeting Thursday
and with small attendance netted
S1S.I12. which has already been
turned over to Mr. Pickens. It Is
expected Hint other organizations
will give Ibis matter immediate
consideration and respond quickly.
The organizations which were
represented at the first meeting
are: Hose P.-T.-A., Rotary club,
Hoy Scouts, Job's Daughters, Hen
. son IVl'. .A Klwanis club, lJIHs.

ed that they would like to take
care of certain needy families.
That is a fine spirit but such or
ganizations should all clear
through this orsanlzation so that
any duplication will be prevented.
A card file will be kept and all
records of relief noted on the cards.

next meeting.
Merchants can further cooperate
by saving small boxes for packing
loodstufls In for delivery. Any one
having a supply of boxes should
call the secretary and leave name.
The boxes will be called for.
Unity Imperative
1 Full cooperation is being offer
ed by everyone who is lamlliar
wllh the purpose of tin? new organ
ization. The community chest
cooperate fully. However, too much j
cannot lie asked ol the chest an
at once as it must, function
throughout the entire year. It is
hoped Hint, there will be need lor
this new club for only three or
lour monts. However, It will func
tion so long; as there Is a demand
and It has anything to assist with.
"This will In no way rnnflic.l
with the Salvation Army work, as
that organization is the only one
to take rare ot needy transients,"
Mr. Ilritton says. "They are doing ;
i a fine piece ol work there and are (
capable of handllm that. They are
also taking care of some families ,
and will be glad to clear through !
the I'mpqua Itellef association to
avoid any duplication.
"Of course everyone has the i
Christmas spirit just now, hut that
same spirit must prevail In this
community so Ion? as there are
needy persons to be fed."

12 French and lfclgfan troops
detailed for railway protHction
evacuated the Saar valley this af
ternoon in accordance with the
league of nations decision of last
September 12.
The evacuation followed to the
letter the , league decision which
stipulated on September 12 that
the last remaining French and Bel
gian defense forces should be with
drawn from the Saar "within the
next three months."
Eefore that decision France had
contended a force of 250 men was
essential to the security of railway
transportation in the Saar district.
Julius Curtius. the German foreign
minister, objected, and when the
Saar commission agreed to guaran
tee security of the railways
Hriand, the Frenchman, yielded to
the German requests.
The last allied troops of the oc
cupation force evacuated the
Rhlneland last June.
The Saar basin by the treaty of
Versailles is under the govern
ment of the league of natioDB.
has an area of ?26 square miles
and a population of about 800,000
Ider the treaty a plebiscite Is to
determine ultimate ownership of
the district.
