tion of the federal trades commis
sion in ordering a manufacturer in
another part of the county to
"cease and deB.nt" from using the
name of California in advertising
and labeling his goods, the San
Francisco Chronicle remarks:
"The name of California has a
substantial cash value as guarantee
of quality in products. There is no
more excuse for a manufacturer
elsewhere to use California's name
In this way than there would be to

commission, of course, applies to
only one case, but it establishes a
precedent lo stamping out a wide
spread abuse."
The commission's ruling should
work both ways, and Californians
be ordered to "cease and desist"
from using the name of California

most of the fruit grown and packed
in Oregon has been marketed as
California produce by the pur
chasers, California shippers, job
bers and owners' of Oregon can
neries .

nia label, to advertise the Golden
slate, and appropriate the credit.

California brands, though to com
ply with the law, close inspection
will reveal, printed in such small

action by the federal commission,
at least through action by the Ore
gon legislature. It has already cost

Tills term is used in place of the
old names of "toe itch." "dhohee
Itch" and "ringworm," which have
an unpleasant sound and orten pre
vent the public from freely dis
cussing the malady.

with ringworm of the feet. At least
one-half of the adult population suf
fer with, this trouble at some time
or another.

erally begins between the toes and
spreads gradually along the sole
and sides or the foot. The skin
becomes reddish and scales, which
are either dry or moist, cover the
affected part. When peeled off.

gon's eighteen districts met last
night to discuss various phases of
the political situation in the state
without emphasis of any special
candidate. It was agreed, however,
that an eastern Oregon man should
