Sale of Hlllcrest ranch on South
Peer creek to Mr. and Mrs. K. O.
Voorheis, recent arrivals from
California, was reported today. The
ranch, formerly owned by Mr. and
Mrs. W. G. Paul, is considered one
of the finest of its size in the
county.
Hlllcrest ranch consists of tfOO
acres of Improved nnd well equip

the valley. The residence 1b a beau

trees surrounding the home are
some very rare varieties, includ
ing the IJendor, Imported directly
from India; the Auracarea, brought
from Chile; laurustinus, English
holly, Colorado blue spruce, mag
nolia, and many roses and flower

Mr. nnd Mrs. Voorheis formerly

by the Umpqua valley, and after
wintering in California came back
to Roseburg a few weeks ngo to
seek a permanent home.
They were greatly attracted by
Hlllcrest ranch, and negotiations,
which have been in progress for
considerable time, were completed
today through the E. G. Klngwell
agency.-
The ranch is well Blocked with
Hampshire sheet) and Angora
goats. The sheep were brought
directly from England by Mr. Paul,
who has taken, much pride in build
ing up this fine breed. The sheep
proved well adapted to the feed and
climatic conditions of the const
and have proven very fine mutton
producers. Special attention has
been given in securing registered
