night visitor in. Roseburg. Miss
Flook reached this city yesterday
afternoon on her way home from a

stage schedule due to snow condi
tions In the south. She is a former

BROWNWOOD, Texas, Jan. 6.
A man who was killed today in a
gun fight with officers near Santa
Anna, was later identified by W. F.
Roberts, Jr., cashier of the Lohn
State bank, as one of two men who
held up the bank thiB morning and
escaped with more than $1,500.
The dead man's name Is believed
to be Wright.
Roberts went to Santa Anna
where the body was held In an un
dertaking establishment, and posi
tively Identified the man as one of
two who broke In a rear window
and made him open the vault this
morning. The man was killed after
officers had found his enr with
some of the stolen money in It.
Two other men, under arrest at
Coleman, were believed to bo ac
complices as owners of the car in
which the robbers escaped. They
protested their Innocence, declar
ing the car was stolen from them.

CHICAGO, Jan. 6. The claim
was made today by Edward II.
Heath, aviator, that his feat of
looping the loop In a glider yes
terday was the first of its kind on
record.
Heath, towed by an airplane,
reached a height of 1,200 feet be
fore his glider was released. He
made four loops before the glider
settled to the field a short dis
tance from the starting place.

during the remainder of the cur
reent fiscal year.

house war department appropria
tions sub-committee by Major Gen
eral William G- Everson, chief of
the militia bureau.

conversions, he said, have im
proved the organization and tacti
cal efficiency of the Infantry di
visions and harbor defense
troops.

Everson pointed out, "that the two
increments of 1029 and 1930 have
