Freeman and Eddie dislike each

goes to Richmond, where he

Freeman overhears the conversa
tion and u right ensues, in- which
Eddie knocks Freeman out and
takes him to Marian's home. Free-1

wants to be friends and they shake I
hands on the bargain. Eddie Is in-'
v ted to the Thorndike home for
dinner and Marian's father ques
tion him as to his past. More de
termined than over to win Marian,

TWO STATESMEN
OF FRANCE FIGHT

PARIS, Oct. 21. Raymond Poln
care, former French president and
premier, underwent an operation
for a pelvic disorder today, the
second he has bad in recent
months for his trouble.
The former president was rest
ing tranquilly, it was said at noon
at the clinic, and his condition
was most saliHfactory.
Former Premier (.forges Clem
enceau, .fiX, is suffering from a
slight heart attack aggravated bv
a bad cold. It was indicated,
however, that his condition was
not considered critical.
After his physicians bud given
him a hypodermic injection. M.
Clenienceau worked for half an
hour this morning and then retir
ed to his room to rest in accord
ance with ihu Injunctions of his
doctors,

Eddie struggled against the rise
of a disturbance in his breast that

HORSE BELONGING
TO MISSING MAN
At least Bome evidence has been
found that bears out the theory
that J. W. Mills, aged, prospector
who droppel out of sight on North
Myrtle last year, perished in the
hills somewhere near the head oi
the two Myrtle creeks, says the
Myrtle Creek MaiL
J. A. Dounell, at whosd place
the old man stayed for a short time
and where he was last seen alive,
has beyond doubt found the horse
that belonged to Mills. Down in
the bottom of a deep canyon at
the head of Duck Fork creek, in
the midst of a Jumble of debris
and fallen timber Mr. Donnell has
found the bones of a horse ami al
so a bridle and a saddle. The re
mains of the horse were covered
with debris and a fallen log but
the saddle was on the bank of the
small draw several feet from the
horse.
Further search of the surround
ing section has failed to disclose
any trace of the missing man or
hiB meager camping equipment.
He may have perished near the
horse but on the othetr hand may
have wandered far Into the moun
tains after losing the horse or aft
er lis death.

terday from a hunting trip In the
Grasshopper flat district 40 miles
east of Tiiler. Hamlin knocked
over a bench-legged buck, which
was one of the largest of that
variety ever killed in the county.
It weighed 225 pounds after being
dressed. Mr. Cederstrom return
ed to his home at Marshfleld last
night.
