to get by the drift nets during the

that escape. Set nets are placed
permanently in the path of the run
and operate day and night, while
drift net fishing la done almoxt en
tirely at night, so that the fish un
der the new arrangement have still
more opportunity for getting Into
the upper spawning waters.
The new closed season, from
Dec. fi to April 15, eliminates Rome
of the objections to the split sea
son and also divides the lish runs
more equitably.
