One is contained in the annual report of the department of justice that the quantity of liquor smuggled into this country from Canada hits increased approximately seventy-five per cent in the past three years. The other is the statement of Federal Pro hibition Commissioner Doran that the staggering sum ol $;!00,000,000 is needed by his - department to effectually cope with tne illicit liquor traffic. Congress, although pre ponderantly dry at least publicly shows no disposition to appropriate such a sum lor the national" dry cleaning pro cess. From this one may assume that Commissioner Doran's department will be unable, as usual, to do a thorough job of eradicating the liquor business and that bootlegging wiU continue to be one of the nation's busiest, even though hazar dous, industries.
