SAYS HE'S HAPPY
(Auorlittd ITtti Lraml Tir)
LONDON, Nov. 6. The Kcllogg
flrtand pact reuouneinje war took
precedence today In the address
which King George read from the
throne in opening parliament.
The speech wait heard by a bril
liantly robed assemblage of peers
and their bejeweled peeresses with
commoners looking on and listen
ing In from their balcony.
"My relations with foreign pow
ers continue to be friendly," the
king began In deep clear tones,
reading from a scroll. "My gov
ernment has been happy to accept
the treaty of renunciation of war
in the form proposed by the gov-
eminent of the United states. To
my great satisfaction this treaty
was signed In Paris on August 27
T by plenipotentiaries on behalf of
all my governments and in behalf
of the United States, France, tier
many Italy. Japan. Belgium, Po
land and Czecho-SIovakia."
A cold yellow November fog
enshrouded the king and queen and
their great state coach of glass and
gold as they rolled through the
streets of London this morning to
open parliament In state. The fog
hung like a gray blankets over the
Mall and all along the line of the
royal route from RucklnKhaiu pul
ace to Westminster. Troops mov
ed like ghosts through the pall and
crowds of hardy spirits braving the
weather, stood in huddled groups
outside the palace an hour before
their majesties were due to leave.

scrimmage practice, while Oakland
too, needs practice againBt an out
side team, so that arrangements
have been made for a game at the
local field Friday afternoon start
ing at 4 o'clock. Oakland has a
very strong team this year and has
been making an exceptionally fine
showing for a school with a limit
ed student body from which to se
lect players. The Oakland team re
cently defeated the local t junior
hieh team In a close game and so
will furnish the senior high team
some pretty keen competition.
Because of the liberal response
given by the residents of Rose
burg to the school's appeal at the
time of the hi jinks, the school will
furnish this extra game free of
charge to spectators and Is Inviting
all football fans of the city to at
tend the game at 4 o'clock Friday

OREGON STATE TO
GIVE WEBFOOTERS
A REAL CONTEST
CORVALI.I3. Not. 7.-.'!th the
exception of Carl Metten, hallbaclt.
and Dclbert Scott, tackle, the Ore
gon Ktate football team promises
to be at full war strength for the
traditional battle with University;
of lTre.on here November 17.
Metten. who had his right foot
broken In the game with Southern
California October 6, had the cast
removed last week and is now run
ning around with a slight limp.
Metten says he will be ready for
the big game but the doctors and
coaches still are In doubt. Delbert
Scott was badly battered in the
game with Washington Stato Oc-
toter 20 and has not been in a
suit since. There Is still a chance
he will see action in the Oregon
game.
Only a few alight Injuries were
received by the Orangemen in the
mix with University of Montaua
here Saturday. A few days of rest
for the cripples will bring them to
the front again.
Oregon seems to be a slight fav
orite in the coming tussle on ac
count of her great defeat of Wash
ington and the stand tbe Webfoots
made against the strong Univers
ity of California team last Satur
day. This ts the first time the Web
fools have been run in as favor
ites over the Orangemen since

Slate In 1924.
