TUESDAY, 0CT0BeR2, 1928. ' RECORD FILL OK HONOR ! Leaving the record of a life full of honors, Judge James ! C. Fullerton, one of the few remaining citizens of KoKeburif prominently identified with tuutity anu uie siaie oi uregon, nas passed on io nis iinai i settled at Oanyonville in the uO's, Judge Fullerion spent) part of his young manhood as many others have done pre-1 liminury to their gradual rise to leadership in public affairs working on a farm and teaching school. His entry into' political life was made at the age of 21, when he began twelve years' service as receiver of the L'nited States land j . office in Roseburg, succeeding his later nationally promin- ent fellow townsman Iiinger Hermann, who preceded him -in death in April, !)2f. It was during his tenure in the land ! - .office that Judge Fullerton. built the foundation tor his sub L ' sequent career by studying law, and in his twenty-ninth year he was admitted to the bar. Ability, personal integ- - xiy and broad-minded partisanship that was never marred by the obtrusion of anv objectionable personal matter, I placed Judge Fellerton in the highest esteen. in both his ' home county and the state and naturally resulted in his elec-i I tion to important offices. These included state senator, ' circuit judge, presidential elector, city councilman, city at- - torney and county and state committeeman for the party of - his political faith. Fraternally, Judge Fullerton was also a leading figure both locally and in the state, as a complete sketch of his active and useful life reveals that portion of . Alt. Nebo from whose summit the American flag waves was a gift from Judge Fullerton to us Hie membership "1 that order was but many of the honors tendered to him by various lodges.
