Patterson of Springfield, Mo.,
United States District Attorney
at Kansas City, was apparently
nominated as republican candl
date for United States Senator lu
Tuesday's primary. His plurality
over Nathan Frank of St. Louis,
continued to climb today.
Patterson was 6,388 votes ahead
of Frank on the basis of returns
from 3428 precincts out of 4140.
The vote was Patterson 90,589,
Frank 01,204, and David M. Proc
tor, Kansas City 78,479.
Tho lead of Charles M. Hay, dry
leader of the state, over James A.
Collet, a wet and whose campaign
was sponsored by Senator James
A. Reed, stood at 21,531 with 3,
C59 precincts tabulated. Hay had
155,309 and Collet 133,838.

E. A. Brltton, Boy Scout execu
tive for Coos and Douglas coun
ties, returned home last night with
the group of Koseburg and Coos
county scouts that nave been
spending the past two weeks in
the Three Sisters district.
Last Sunday the scouts scaled
the Bachelor mountain before
breakfast, this peak having an al
titude of 9.200 feet They breuk-
fasted at the peak and were back
In camp by 9 o'clock. Monday
they climbed the South Sister, an
elevation of 10,339 feet They
broke camp at 3 a. m. and reach
ed the top at 8:50 a. m., return
ing by way of Green LakeB, Brok
en Top mountain, and Devil's Gar
den. Tuesday the boys . broke
camp and returned to the Mc
Keuzie Pass and then drove home
yesterday.
Mr. Brltton went tc the Wolf
Creek camp today to prepare for
the outing to be enjoyed by the
younger boys next week. As soon
as the Camp Fire girls, who are
now occupying the site leave the
boys below scout age will be given
a one-week camp. Mr. Brltton will
be assisted during the week by
Neal McDonald, scoutmaster from
Myrtle Creek.
