MY UMPQUA VALLEY FARM
By 8. 8. Dunn
There's a freshness and a fra
grance In our f.uils and flowers
Kiihlline.
... .t.rt .... mown hav In our
meadows, unmatched ""'
clime,
In the spread of our green valleys
and the sweep of wooded hills,
In ihe flashing sheen of the waters
of our rivers and our rills;
And nature's fingers weave in
gladness, fabrics of wondrous
charm,
And her masterpiece, I'm certain,
is my Ulnpiiua vancy .ana.
There's a newness and a sweet
ness in the tilings that grow so
fine,
In our gardens, lu our fields and
meadows, on every tree and
In the dew upon the grasses, in the
green of growing wneni,
At the edge of the valley where
the fields and woodlands meet:
And nature seems lo draw nearer,
like a. strong encircling arm.
And is smiling, I nm certain, upon
my Unipqua. vulley farm.
There's a brightness and a white
ness in this charmed, enchanted
'land,
In the rapids of (ho rivers and the
gleaming, golden sand;
There's a (iiiaintness ulld a quiet
ness lingering nil ubout the
place,
In the. primeval forests, green
whero the white-tails stalk with
grace,
And nature Is W'atching over us, lo
shield us from nil harm,

Wo will miss you, Oscar, boy,
