The business houses destroyed
by the blaze were the Clendale
bank, Harvey Hardware store, Dr.
Ku weed's office, Dr, I'hilpott'a of
fice, J. (. Kaefer shoe store. City
Meat Market, Henson rooming
house, Glemlalc Log newspaper of
fice, Morley barber shop, cleaning
and pressing shop, Hennlnger Mer
chandise store, Benson Pharmacy,
Kaefer's Kozy Kafe, Smokehouse,
I Mike's tailor shop, post ofNce,
Marker's Photo Studio, California
Oregon Power Co. office, Wunsc'h's
garage, (ilendale garage and two
old school buildings.
Twelve Homes Burn
The twelve residences that Weill
up in smoke belonged to L. Hnyse,
C. Kaefer, K. Kdin, J. Ilenson. K.
(I. Williams, Vv-Meisner, (;. o.

In most of these homes the en
tire contents were burned but sev
eral managed to save some valu
able pieces of furniture.

, Many merchants there, although
lamenting the loss of their slocks,
were glad that they had been able
to save their records from the
flames. The flro spread so rapidly
that it was practically impossible

Some of the business men were
solng through the ruins this morn
ing in efrort to save some things
but found that everything had been
destroyed.

"We could have saved most or
the business section If we had had
enough water pressure," nnii one
man (his morning who was among
Ihe first to start fighting the fire.
"When the water was turned on
the hnse filled wilh mud thai had
clogged in (he mains and for a
time il looked as tbou;h we would
not be able to get any stream.
When the water did appear there
was not enough pressure mid we
