Bluffs men encountered a funnel
shaped wind cloud near here today
and was hurled Into the Platte
river.
The three were seriously injured.
They are:

charged by Cutter's wife with try
ing to alienate his affections. She
anneals to Oliver to explain, and
demands a settling of her account.
Then she learns that he has not
made any money for her, and that
she is no nearer her hundred thou
sand goal.
NOW GO ON WITH THE STORY
CHAPTER XXXVll
- Oliver waved her to a seat. "If
we've got to go into all that, please
sit down," he said after a few sec
onds of close inspection of Vir
ginia's features. She had somehow
learned enough or his duplicity to
require an explanation on his part,
he reasoned.
Any attempt at further conceal
ment would be futile, he knew.
And he did not regret that things
had come to an impasse .... tho
affair had dragged itself out be
yond tho time he had thought
would be necessary for the fulfill
ment of his plans.
In the hours he had spent with
Virginia alone iu his office he hud
hoped to find an opportunity to
tell Iter of his infatuation and
muke her listen to him. But no
such opportunity had presented it
self. Virginia had remained defi
nitely business-like and aloof.
At times ho had been driven to
the vov&e of declaring his passion
regardless of her distant manner
