gradually filled Into their new

waters of old "How" river.

steads in Oregon.

little mountain home a few yenrs
ago. A favorite son, who bod
boon homo for several months, ad
ding sunshine and happiness to
tho hearts of rather and mother,
went south lo nccept a position.
Death came and then there was
tho cruel message, that leaves a
mailt upon every henrt. And to
Mrs. Negley found It hard, Indeed,
to live down and put away Hie
memory or those happy days ot
mother nnd son. or but a few
weeks since In this mountain
home. "Pa" Negley, wasn't blind
he saw- it all. It couldn't be
done, that's nil; and so one morn
ing with tho help of a neighbor,
James Hedford. to whom Mr.
Negley lias said he will always ho
grateful, mid who came up with
team and sled, tlioy moved them
down into tho valley. Eventually
Ihey ronted tho McCurgnr farm.

Negley proved that be whs not
only a successful homesteader but
n thoroughly efficient farmer. La

ful: but advancing years, coupled
