purties In Oregon, the Republican
and Ucmocruiic, are subject to
making their nominations lor the
offices to be filled at the general
elections through the primary
election. Tills is because no oilier
political party in this .slate, has,
cast a sufficient number of votes
to bring it under the provisions of
the primary nominating elections
law. .
As required by law, the Secre
tary of State, will, prior to April
3rd, uiull to the various couuly
clerks by registered letter, hluiu
ments listing the several national,
Slate and district offices for which
candidates will be selected by the
Kepuhlican and Ucmacrutic parties
fu the primary election to be hold
May 18.

dents of northeastern New York
today were recounting details ot
the earth shocks which yesterday
jolted points as widely separated
as Malone, Phittsburg and Lake
George.
. The tremors were felt in Sar
anac Lake, Malone, Lake Placid,
Plattsburg, Lake George end War
renshurg. They were reported nl
sb as having been felt on tho Can
adian side of the St. Lawrenco
river.
The tremor lasted several sec
onds in most of the towns, but
Malone reported the disturbance
continued for half a minute.
