whatever liojius Jack Uharkcy had
of Home time ruling the crowning

Theoretically, Johnny Itlsko, tho

Hut there isn't an ounce of the

whipped Sharkey decisively In lf
rounds last night. In mixing before
the smallest crowd that over naw

was a- most uninteresting brawl
that merely dragged everybody
concorned into mediocrity. .
From the opening round,- the ro

balloou-llro of a man, leaped and
plunged Into Sharkey, belaboring
him constantly with a left hook to
the body that curled up. from hisl
heels. The Hoston sailor man box

zoomed out of nowhere lo smack
into its mark. Sharkey worked In
close to evado the punch, grabbed
tho left ami, nailed both elbows to
his ribs and tried every defensive
trick of the game, but still the
left hooking went on. '
In the end, that loft hook, the
sole real offensive that Kisko car
ried, won nine ot the fifteen
rounds. The short right flush to
the heart, Sharkey's best punch,
coupled with a loft hook, won his
heats for tho Hoston man, who
just n year ago whs considered

In Ihe tenth, Sharkey went down
for a count of. four but It. was

viewing ne teaiimony before the
Teapot dome coram Ittee, Senatur
Kobinson of Arkansua, the Demo
cratic leader, today declared that
W ill H. Hays liad "ubjected liim
s"lf to the possible charge of per
jury." , The Democratic lender carried
the-oil, case before the senate
.shortly after Secretary Mellon
i Hreed to appear before tho oil
committee tomorrow. , -
The secretary will be asked
about the $50,000 in Continental
Trading company bonds boiU loj
him by Hays, who Is former secre-
taiy of the Republican national
committee, and refused by Mr.
Mellon.
Kohinson, in a brief speech,
dealt entirely with, campaign cou
trllmtions from Harry b Sinclair,
lessee of Teapot Dome, to the Re
publican committee.
"Mr. Hays secretly received
SS5.000 In Liberty bonds from the
chief beneficiary, in (he- fraudu
lent transactions by which the
naval oil reserves were bartered
away," he said, "and proceeded hy
methods common to crooks wit it
efrorts to exchange the bonds
with prominent Republicans lor
cash.
Viewed as Corruption
"Such records as. kept warrant
the conviction, that the whole
transaction was corrupt. The tes
timony of Mr. Hays before the
committee In 1924 warrants the
conclusion that lie deliberately
concealed the use hy him, as po
litical 'chairman, of tho bonds ob
tained from Mr. Sinclair, and in
that sense subjected himself to
the possible charge of perjury.
"Quito lately before the commit
tee, when at hist the slimy trans
action was. divulged, Mr. Hays
, ,
I a. Iu
did not volunteer about
ttic government bonds. I was not
sked about that.' "
i -ery witness when sworn de
clares that he will tell 'the truth,
tiie whole truth and nothing but
tho truth.' True, nobody asked him
direct questions as to whether
Liberty bonds wore received from
Mr. Sinclair in 1924 to help pay
the deficit but in that year'Wnen
testifviniT it annenrs that he' was
asked whether Mr. Sinolair luuf
contributed more than $7f(000 to
the Republican committee deficit
of 1920 and he answered 'No. His
testimony now disclosed $S5,000 in
government bond3 in addition lo.
the 375.000 as a contribution, mak
ing a total of $100,000."
'Recent testimony . before the
senate committee," the Arkansas
senator declared, "discloses pe
culiarly disgusting corruption."
He dj;ciared, that the committee
some time ago had "revealed an
infamous betrayal of trust by two
cabinet officers Secretary Kail
and Attorney General DuughoiO'
and spoke of the "asslnlne ntu
pldity of the secretary of the
navy, Mr. Denby."
Butler, Hays Summoned
Mr. Mellon will he the first wit
ness, nt the reopening of the hear
ings and probably will be followed
by William M. Butler, chairman ot
tho Republican national commit
tee who has advised Seuator
Walsh Jhat lie received no Liberty
bonds or other contributions to
the Republican national .commit
tee from Hays or Harry P. Sin
clair. Hays also has bnen summoned
for a third time and will be skmi
to explain why ho witlfheld from
the committee on his previous ap

had sent SfiO.000 of tho Sinclair
