rooms made a harmonious setting
for the affair. The large room was
reserved for dancing and in one
of the smaller rooms tables were
placed for cards. The festivities
of the evening were concluded with
a midnight supper. Two other
pleasant affairs, among the larger
ones arranged as an adieu to the
old year, were the dinner-dance at
the Rose Hotel and the watch
party at which Bethel Number 8 of
Roseburg Job's Daughters and the
IleMolays Joined in entertaining on
Saturday evening.

for some of the smartest creations
of the season.
I have really been surprised at
the many, many times and ways 1
have hit upon lace to solve this or
that problem in getting just the
right soil, enhancing effect
Here, There, Everywhere
As a filmy shoulder decoration
on this chifton dress, as the grace
ful bow and long streamers at the
hip ot another gown, as a yoke on
a smart blouse of a crepe de chine
ensemble, as the floucings on a
tiered skirt that needs a fluttering,
soft finish, lace has been just
about the handiest thing in the
world for the courtourier this year.
But It is the lace frock, really,
that gave social assurance to the
use of lace.
The Vivacity of Color
Colored lace, In vivid greens,
blues ami reds are as chieas they
are delicately vivacious. Black
lace is ultra proper for dinner and
eveniug. New metal laces. Includ
ing silver, gold and bronzes, in -luxuriously

the novel semi-princess sil

Hold Meeting This Month
The regular business meeting of
the tjeuior High P. T. A. will be
held at the school Tuesday even
ing, January 10th promptly at 7:30.
Owing to the quarantine, there was
no meeting held in December, and
the business was held over until
this meeting.
It i desired that every parent
who can attend this meeting, as
ways and means for carrying on
the year's work will be discussed
and decided upon. .
After the business session an
interesting program will be given.
The senior and sophomore classesy
will hold their iutcrclass debate at
this session. '
! The question to be dfbated Is
"Resolved, that the principals of
the McNary-Haugen bill should be
j adopted by connress." The senior
debaters will take the affirmative
) side of the question, and the soph
! omores will uphold the negative.

few realize the amount of time and
study these students spend in col
