powdered strychnine (Alkaloid)
and 1 ounce common baiting soda.
Sift this Into 3-4 pint of thin hot
paste and stir to a smooth creamy
mass. (The starch paste Is made
by dissolving 1 heaping tablespoon

cold water, which is then ndded to
3-4 pint of boiling water. Hoii and
stir constantly until a clear thin
ttaste is lormed.) Add pint heavy
corn syrup and 1 tablespoonful of
glycerine and stir thoroughly. Add
1-10 ounce of saccharin and stir
thoroughly. Tour this mixture over
10 quarts of clean barley and mix
well so that each grain is coated.
