A CUCUMBER BLEACH
If yon Svaot a cooling, soothing
crt-uiu which will bleach the skin
anil do wonders in keeping it free
from sunburn- during the summer,
inuke up this cucumber cream: :
Almond oil ,......,....;....-4 ounces
Spermaceti 1 ounce
White wax 1 ounce
Cucumber Juice ... 2 ouucoB
Take ripe cucumbers, chop them
fine, put them over slow heat so
they soften and become watery,
I In n squeeze them through a mus
lin bag until you have two ounces
of Juice. 'J'ke while wax and sper
maceti are melted in the nlmond
oil (or olive oil If you wish to
economize) until they are just
blended, then the warm cucum
ber Juice Is added. A drop or two
of violet extract inay be added tn
perfume the cream, or a few drops
of perfumed oil could be used. By
I ,i10 way. never add perfume to a
cream until' you have taken Ihe in-
gradients from the heat. These
perfumed oils are ethereal oils and
lose their virtue with heaL
Here's another cucumber lotion.
Two ounces of cucumber Juice, two
ounces of rosewater, two ounces of
glycerine. This Is a varlatiun of
tile familiar glycerine and. rose
water hand lotion, It is. very bleach
lug and can be used as prion as you
like. 1 would recommend t par
ticularly as a hand lotion - to bo
used after expomu-e to tho sun and
