The situation la pregnant with
drama.
I didn't write "Sandy" or "Chick

cause they (tripped me and I felt
they would grip other.
One day I chanced to be at the
City and County Hospital. A young
girl was brought to the Emergen

beautiful, eighteen and very intel

This incident was the first of
many that eventually made up the

things eager for love standing on
a hilltop with some Hurry's arm
about them, trembling because his
kiss la such a tenderness and such
a rapture; whispering: "You'll
love me always?"
It starts sweetly so, In this day
of freedom when a girt thinks she
has as much right to love and liv
ing as a man.
Hut when the end comes, pitiless
and inescapable with the ancient
cruelty ot sex, It la the girl who
bears the cross.
rDoea writing these storlea serve
any purpose? Does It arouse matur
er minds to search some more ade
quate answer than that pitiful
bunkum: "In our day, girls didn't
think such things"?
1 don't know. But I do know that
at overy fireside mothers and fath
ers agitate sorely the problems of
their young; and the young flaunt
brazenly their defiance. If you
want to Interest parents, Juat talk
about their children; if you want
to interest girls, ask what they
think of petting and bootleg.
A story that tries faithfully to
portray the tumult of the one; and
the bafflement of the other Inevi

we find in our own lives, i'erhnps
this should be enough for the
