A HILL BILLY S CHRISTMAS
On Di-cember 24, laoi. a hill-billy
sat In his cabin alone.
It was mowing, and tile white
flakes had covered the ground.
He was lonesome, wished he was
off In the town,
lie was far too old to expect St.
Kick,
n hen. golly, what a racket!
What
IS 117
An airplane with
a whine and a
Purr.
Whlsjed right past the cabin door!
The driver was Old Chris Cringle,
a little off his route,
But he left a sack, with a thnmn
and a bound.
It grased the big fir as It hit the
ground.
The old-timer was excited alright.
In a Jlfly he was undoing the pack.
I hen a enss word big and blue, out
of the cabin.
Into the night It flew.
There was rice, beans, a pair of old
socks that bad been worn.
And prunes dried and brown.
Wasn't that a mean trick?
Who would have thought It of old
St. Nick.
