than 50 gypsies arrived at the pier

among the groups urging them to

came more vehement than before.

over the Neacoxie Creek at Gear
hart, popular summer sesort, dam
aged the bridge and caused the
washout of a portion of one ap
proach with the resultant collapse
of the pavement, an investigation
by the Clatsop county court re
vealed today.
The blast was ordered set by
the (jearhart City council to
break up the log jam ao the logs
could be carried away by the
tide. The blast was too power
ful, racking the walls of the
bridge approach, enabling the
tide to gnaw at the sand fills of
the approach. -
The bridge was completed last
summer.

black book, containing a virtually
complete directory of Chicago pro
hibition enforcement forcea, found
in a raid a week ago, may bring
an other extensive liquor Investiga
tion here.
The volume was found In a six
story building across from the
criminal court after agents had
discovered whiskey and alcohol
valued at 1200.000 In the establish
ment of J. B. Scheure and Com
pany. Its existence waa carefully
guarded last night while enforce
ment officials endeavored to trans
late ita code entries and check up
on the Information it contained.
