Announcement was made re
cently that the Bulck Motor Co.
had appropriated two million dol
lar to be used for increasing: the
production of Bulck automobile
to twelve hundred cara per day.
Thta action wai made necessary
because of the greut demand -for
the new Bulck model, which were
Introduced in August. The com
pany has found It impossiDie to
keen nace with order for cart
with present production facilities.
In October, usually a montn wnen
production begins to fall off. the
Bulck plant strained every effort
to meet the flood of orders, ship
ping twenty-three thousand auto
mobiles from the plant and break
ing all monthly production rec
ords. Just prior to settlnc this
record, announcement was made
that peak production would bare
in be maintained through the
winter months to meet the de
mand for cars.
The romoanv then saw that
only by Increasing the capacity of
the plant could It nope to aceii
up with orders. The appropria
tion will be expended for addi
tions to present buildings, and for
machine and tool equipment, con
nvnn. to bring production i
up to the figure of twelve hundred
cars per aay ana a posaiuiu pro
duction of three hundred thous
and cars per year.
Thore Is considerable contrast
between the contemplated pre
duction figure of next year and
that in 1904. when the first
Bulck automobiles were made. In
that year, thirty-seven" cara were
built. The next year line toia
reached seven hundred and fifty,
the following year fourteen hun
dred, and each succeeding year
production has been doubled and
tripled, making additions to the
plant necessary at frequent inter
vals. The present year has prov
ed .the greatest in the history or
the company, with a certainty of
over two hundred thousand cars
manufactured and marnetea.
Ninety percent of lhee will be
closed models.
The additions to the piani ana
Installation of equipment will be
started at once, llulck officials
hope that the increased produc
tion may begin by early summer.
