i THE DANGERS OF
I The prices .of securities on the stock 'market we high,
ljut that does not seen to deter, the public from rushing in to
ljuy stocks. .The experts on investment tell us, that if one is
going to buy stocks, the time to do it is when sentiment is
blue and most people are anxious to sell, you ca4 hear stor
ies about old timers who acquired wealth, just by the habit
of buying stocks when they were very low. When the mar
kets were crashing and the brokers were having their black
jvidays, these old timers would pull the little old fin box
y Jut of their deposit vaults; and take out securities that could
be marketed at about par at any time. They would K01 down
and buy a lot of standard, securities that people were almost
jiving away for very low prices. Then when a time like' the
present comes, when people are rushing in to buy and not
querying very much about the price, these wise old pirds
would. take that little tin box again, and go down to the mar
Set and turn all those securities into cash. ' In duo time it
fould-be found that the boom had culminated, and a crash
would'recur, and the wise ones would be in a position to take
advantage of it once more. Many folks who are buying so
freely at this time have ppt thought of that way of doing
Business. For people who have not made a careful study of
the game, it is risky business speculating at any time. Such
folks should put their money in the soundest kind, of invest
ments like good banks. But there are many who seem to
(iav a (acuity for buying when the market is at the top. It
ts of course possible that business improvement will be so
pronounced that the market will advance beyond the present
Ievej.j 6ut people who buy securities after, values have had
& long period of advance take large chances .that they will
have to sell later at a heavy loss. ' -'. 1 1 ' r; .'. . '.(:' .. !
