I Anna Fenton., located on the hill
about three quarters of a mile
south of town was destroyed by
fire about fire o'clock Monday
evening, the structure with about
ten tons of hay being a total loss,
with no insurance. It was at first
thought that the fire resulted from
spontaneous combustion but an ex
amination of the premise revealed
a partly burned package of cigar
ette papers which led to the be
lief that a hobo may have been
sleeping in the place during the
day and had carelessly thrown a
partly burned match or cigarette
stub down near the barn. Mrs.
Fenton and her son. the only occu
pants of the place, were away
from the place during the after
noon. Mrs. Fenton places her loss
at about $500 which she can 111 afford.

Gravelling of the Glengary road
started today after considerable
difficulties. According to County
Judge Quine tho county proposed
to take gravel from Roberts Creek,
but an objection was made by the

whose land the gravel was to be
removed. When the county em
ployees tried to force matters, the
county engineer, Floyd Frear, was
confronted with a hoe and told to
keen off. the Judge stales. Mr.
Whitsett was shown the law giv
ing the court the right to take any

streams, and work started today.
In order to prevent further trouble,
Sheriff Siarmer accompanied the
road crew.
