ion have grown in the last few
years to a membership of 22.000,

ship In all other countries is given

The Consumers' Cooperatives,
foremost In Importance, now in
cludes 24,516 societies, with 42.000
shops snd stores and 8.000,000
shareholding members. The busi
ness turnover Isst year was re
ported to have been 8701,000,000.
Next In importance to the Con
sumers' Cooperatives are the agri
cultural Cooperatives with 45,000
societies and 4.000,000 peasant
members. Their business turnover
in 1924 was 8318,750,000.
In addition to these two. other
Co-operative societies include home
craftsmen embracing pottery mak
ers, weavers, metal workers, paint
rs and other artisans; bousing,
building and renting; local credit;
timber Industry and hunters and
trappers.
