this morning, states that he be-

this particular kind of flax ever
marketed from this county. The;
flax Is of good quality, ho states, !
the yield averaging about sixteen I
and a half bushels to the acre. Mr. '

Mrs. Sarah F. Hassell, a resident
of this city for the past 37 years,
and well known to Itoseburg and
ouglus county people, passed
away this morning at about 3
o'clock at the apartments of her
daughter. Mrs. Percy A. Webb, with
whom she has been residing for the
past six months.
Mrs. Hassell had been 111 for
.seme time, being bedfast for the
past two weeks, until illness cul
minated In death this morning. She
was born at llinghainton. New
York, August 2. JM2. coming to
Oregon from that place 54 years
at-'o. She made her home here for
.seme time, later moving to Ksta
cu'la, Oregon, and residing there a
yJiort time. She returned to Hose
burg and has since that time made
her home here. Mrs. llafsell has
been a consistent Christian since
girlhood, and "was a woman of ster
ling character, endearing herself to
all who met her.
Beside one daughter here, two
Hons, John and Albert of Kstacada,
and one sister, Mrs. Mary Tracy,
of Portland, survive her. She
leaves many friends In this vicin
ity and at Kstacada who will be
grieved to learn of her death.
Funeral services will be held
Sunday afternoon at two o'clock,
at the Koseburg Undertaking
Chapel. R-v. ii. k. Mow, of the
Christian church, will read the eu
logy, and interment will follow at
the Odd Fellows cemetery.
